Seiho Takeuchi, who was said to be "Taikan of the East, Seiho of the West" and was named alongside Taikan Yokoyama.
Seiho, who pursued the essence of life-like sketching, which was rare in Japanese painting at the time, traveled to Europe to study painting.
They incorporated the interior decor they found there into their own home.
